Charter Date: November 28, 1964
On November 28, 1964, a group of ladies from Midland, Odessa and Pecos met with inspiration and desire to organize a chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Prior to November 28, 1964, this small group of women were determined to establish a meaningful and productive chapter. To these ladies, the objective of the chapter was to produce positive life forces in our society.
Dr. Clarice Allen of Midland, Tx met often with twelve ladies to discuss and plan for the organization. After numerous meetings, the date for November 28, 1964 was set for the official charter ceremony with Soror Odalie S. McDonald, Assistant to Regional Director Mattelia B. Grays conducting.
